Palazzo Mocenigo and Santa Croce district
During this tour it is possible to visit a whorkshop of handmade fabrics (ask for prices and reservation)
The magnificent Palazzo Mocenigo, recently restored, is now home to the museum of fashion and perfume. A large exhibition to learn about the history of the family and discover the masterpieces of fabrics, costumes , precious Murano glass, antique laces and the secret art of “ perfume’s makers”, of which the Venetians were great connoisseurs. The tour continues with a walk in the quiet Santa Croce area and its typical "campos" (squares) like San Giacomo dell’Orio and San Zan Degolà .
The tour includes:
- Palazzo Mocenigo, museum of fashion and perfume; entrance fee: € 8 p.p. (concessions: € 5,50 p.p.)
- Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio , wonderful example of Venetian square (or campo), full of life and activity, with the homonymous church, one of the oldest in the city.
- Campo San Zan Degolà, with its church, dedicated to St. John the Beheaded, a rare example of Venetian-Byzantine architecture.
